Luca Fitzgerald is Associate Director of the Center for Religion and the Human. He received a Staff Merit Award in Fall 2019 and a Sustained Superior Performance Award from the Office of Research in Spring 2022.

He holds a B.A. in Literature and History from the University of California Santa Cruz, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Indiana University, and an M.A. in Italian from Middlebury College.

Grant Writing

2024 - “In support of the Center for Religion and the Human”

Henry Luce Foundation Religion and Theology Program. Synthesized faculty input to write concept note. Full proposal invited. Developed budget and timeline, and co-wrote (with faculty Co-PIs) narrative proposal. Awarded 750k.

2022 - “Unstately Black Religion: A Three-Year Study.”

Henry Luce Foundation Religion and Theology Program, Responsive Grants. Wrote budget and timeline, and co-wrote (with J. Kameron Carter and Winnifred Fallers Sullivan) narrative proposal. Awarded 250k.
