Law & Religion
We read across the human experience cross-culturally and throughout history to understand more fully how law and religion have been entangled in different times and places, from saga Iceland to contemporary Thailand. Invited guests have considered topics such as Islamic headscarf legislation on the northern and southern shores of the Mediterranean and the law of the Mughal empire. We have also read literature, such as Sophocles' play Antigone, a classic in the study of law and religion, and attended a production together.
